Abstract
Cytogenetic studies were made on 8 interspecific pentaploid hybrids among 5 Japanese and 2 Nepalese species of Agropyron. The general characteristics of F1 hybrids were either intermediate between the parents or superior to those of the parent, and the hybrids were completely sterile. The 2 genomes of 3 Japanese tetraploid species, A. ciliare, A. gmelini and A. yezoense, are identical with the corresponding 2 genomes of Japanese hexaploid species, A. humidum and A. tsukushiense. Two genomes of Nepalese tetraploid species, A. gmelini and A. semtcostatum, are basically homologous with those found in Japanese species, but some chromosomal differentiation must have taken place between Japanese and Nepalese genomes. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
