Abstract
Within the framework of the variational theory of Fermi fluids we construct a relationship between properties of the one-component plasma and the two-component plasma, liquid metallic hydrogen. We show how the ground-state energy and excitation spectra may be calculated within the Jastrow Euler-Lagrange approach without recourse to effective screened potentials but from Coulomb interactions directly, and that these results preserve the proper long-wavelength and high-density limits, which are crucial when dealing with Coulomb plasmas. Keywords
