Abstract
This paper presents an exact formulation of the probability of co-channel interference (PCI) in cellular radio systems where Rician-faded user signal and co-channel interferers undergo correlated log-normal shadowing. The correlation between the local-mean power levels of the user signal and co-channel interferers was shown to influence the PCI significantly. The effect of the Rice factor, the mean value and the shadow spread of the Rician-faded user and interfering signals was discussed. The randomness in the location of the user terminal within the cell was observed to have a major impact on the PCI.
