Abstract
The ultrastructural characteristics of N-nitrosodibutylamine-induced adenocarcinomas and squamous cell carcinomas in the nasal cavities of European hamsters suggested that the cells of origin for adenocarcinomas were the goblet cells of the normal epithelial lining, whereas squamous cell carcinomas seemed to originate either from squamous metaplastic epithelium or from adenomatous areas, perhaps even as a later developmental stage of adenocarcinomas. Keywords
