Abstract
Chromosomal screening was undertaken in 71 couples who had more than two repeated spontaneous abortions and/or stillbirths. Eight persons showed chromosome abnormalities of four different types. In one couple, both the wife and the husband had chromosome abnormalities. The wife showed a partial translocation between a B and a C chromosome, while her husband had a centric fusion-type D/G translocation. There was another husband who showed a partial C/D translocation. This couple had three children, one of whom had the same chromosome anomaly as that of his father. Five other husbands had an abnormally long Y chromosome. It is likely that most fetuses having a lethal chromosome abnormality are aborted in the first trimester. Keywords
