Abstract
For pt.XI see ibid., vol.11, no.23, p.4067 (1978). Quantum defect theory with long-range dipole coupling between degenerate states (Bely 1966) is modified to enable the authors to define complex quantum defects. The case of He++e- is considered, including the 1s, 2s, 2p target terms. The complex quantum defects are calculated and are found to be smoothly varying, as functions of energy, through the 2s, 2p threshold. Keywords
