Abstract
A study on the structure of amorphous NiZr2 prepared by quenching from different temperatures shows no evidence for phase separation, in contrast to recent claims. Instead, we suggest that different quench temperatures produce different coordinations on the atomic scale (i.e., different degrees of chemical short‐range order), which are invisible to electron microscopy but which give rise to different growth and nucleation characteristics in crystallization and different superconducting properties. This publication has 11 references indexed in Scilit:
