RatioσLσTfrom deep-inelastic electron scattering

Values of $R=\frac{{\sigma }_L}{{\sigma }_T}$ for deep-inelastic electron-nucleon scattering have been derived from several experiments with incident electron energies up to 20 GeV. Included are previously unpublished measurements at intermediate angles (largely at 15° and 18°). An average value of $R=0.22\mathrm{}\pm 0.1$ is obtained for the kinematic region covered by the experiments. No significant kinematic dependence of $R$ is observed. A table of extracted values of the structure functions $\nu W_2$ and $2M{W}_1$ is also presented.
