Abstract
Hypnotic procedures, including age-regression, helped to clarify the diagnosis in the case of a 44-year-old female patient with a recent voice loss. Her problem appeared to be related to marital difficulties and the prospect of acting as a witness at a court hearing. She soon recovered her voice. Although the case appeared to be one of hysterical aphonia, malingering could not be entirely excluded. Keywords
