Abstract
The potentiometric technique for the determination of stability constants of metal complexes has been adapted for use in more dilute solutions than has been customary (in one example at 7.5. [mu][image]-metal concentration). The procedure is useful for poorly soluble metal complexes. Application of this technique to the adenine anion confirms that this species, unlike the neutral molecule of adenine, has a high avidity for bivalent cations. Contrary to what has been thought, the 2:1 complex of the adenine anion and copper is formed simultaneously, and not stepwise.Keywords
