Isotherm for Moving Media Reactor

Abstract
Phenol concentration in waste effluents generally varies from 10 mg/L–10,000 mg/L. With a continuous operating adsorption system provided at the source of pollution phenol concentrations may be reduced to levels low enough to be disposed of by available dilutions. Moving media adsorption systems using charcoal as sorbent had been tried and the phenol removal was found to be 40%–70%. The effect of variation in the influent flow rate, coal mass input rate, and size of coal particles on the equilibrium concentrations, were studied. The dynamic system of moving media adsorption has not been found to follow the conventional isotherms. An attempt has been made to develop an isotherm for such a dynamic system.Keywords
