Enantioselective Addition of Diethylzinc to Aldehydes in the Presence of Chiral Titanium Reagent Modified withN-Sulfonylated Amino Alcohol

Abstract
Titanium(IV) isopropoxide modified with (1S,2R)-2-(p-methoxyphenylsulfonylamino)-1-phenylpropanol (9), was found to be an effective catalyst for enantioselective addition of diethylzinc to aldehydes. For example, benzaldehyde was converted into (S)-1-phenylpropanol in 97% enantiomeric excess.
