Behavioural Dynamics and the Negative Binomial Distribution

Abstract
A simple power law relationship between mean density of organisms and their variability has been accepted for many years. There have recently been attempts to find spatial-temporal models of behaviour which can account for this relationship. In this paper I suggest another model, based on the negative binomial districution, which also accounts for the relationship.
