Abstract
The authors describe an inexpensive automated Langmuir trough system. It was designed to achieve controlled transfer of monolayer and thin multilayer films of amphiphilic molecules from an air-water interface onto hydrophobic and hydrophilic substrates. The system incorporates an epifluorescence attachment for in situ observation of spread films during compression. Keywords
