Abstract
The destructive capability of modern nuclear weapons should now be evident to everyone; in fact, our national security for the past 40 years has been based on the perception that nuclear war would be unhealthy. People's perceptions of how serious the health problems would be in the event of a nuclear war, however, vary surprisingly and must affect their attitudes toward the use of nuclear weapons.
