Abstract
In a recent note in Geophysics, Whitcomb (1966) described a method for the detection and visual amplification of transverse horizontal (SH) waves. The suggested method employs angularly sensitive accelerometers, with a vertical rotational axis. A study of methods of detecting and identifying shear waves on seismic records has also been going on for some time at Huntec Limited, Toronto. Geophysics readers may be interested in our approach to the problem. Keywords
