Application of Induced Pulmonary Arterial Collateral Circulation as Collateral Supply to the Heart.

Abstract
When adhesions are created between the heart and a lung the pulmonary artery of which was ligated, abundant large connections develop between the coronary arteries and vastly expanded bronchial arteries. Thus the coronary arterial bed becomes connected to the aorta not only at the sinuses of Valsalva, but also in the descending thoracic portion by way of the bronchial collateral vessels. The efficiency of these connecting vessels as collateral blood supply to the heart is under investigation.
