Influence of beta blockade and chemical sympathectomy on myocardial function and arrhythmias in acute ischaemia

Abstract
Both regional chemical sympathectomy and beta blockade at dosages which prevented ventricular fibrillation in the first hour of ischaemia depressed ventricular performance. These interventions resulted in larger elevation of end-diastolic pressure, while end-diastolic and stroke volume declined.
