A CASE OF PYOCYANEUS RING ABSCESS OF THE CORNEA TREATED WITH STREPTOMYCIN

Abstract
A ring abscess of the cornea due to the pseudomonas (Bacillus pyocyaneus) was treated with streptomycin. The drug was admd. intramusc. 1 g. 1 day for 5 days, subconjunctivally on 2 occasions, and in the form of eye drops every hr. On the 2nd day of treatment 2 drops (2,500 U.) were injd. into the anterior chamber. A course of sulfadiazine was also given. The condition began to subside within 3 days and on the 5th day there was a marked regression of the whole inflammatory process.Keywords
