Solid-state processes to produce hemispherical components for inertial fusion targets

Abstract
The designs proposed for next-generation targets and components for inertial fusion (IF) involve complex multilayer, multishell configurations. Solid-state process technology offers a wide assortment of fabrication techniques useful in the realization of such structures. This paper presents several such processes which are capable of producing freestanding hemishells of a variety of materials.
