Abstract
Absorption, Distribution and EliminationDigitoxin is entirely absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, digoxin approximately 80 per cent, lanatoside C 10 per cent, and ouabain little if at all. After injection, approximately 60 per cent of digitoxin is bound to plasma protein, but only 50 per cent can be found in the blood after three minutes, and none at the end of three hours. When given orally, it cannot, even when given in large doses, be detected in the blood. Digoxin is not bound to protein to any extent and rapidly disappears from the blood stream after injection.
