Abstract
A PREVIOUSLY healthy young man had a severe, necrotizing pneumonitis caused by the gram-negative bacillus "Eugonic Oxidizer, Group I" (EO-I). To our knowledge, this organism has not been described as a significant pathogen, despite its recovery more than 130 times from clinical specimens submitted to the Communicable Diseases Center.1 Case ReportThis 18-year-old lifetime resident of Oregon had malaise, hectic fever and severe, dry cough after 3 weeks of work cleaning air conditioners in Texas.
