Abstract
A general expression is established which relates the output roundoff noise generated by a fixed-point multiplier in a digital filter to the sensitivity of the filter attenuation with respect to the corresponding multiplier coefficient. It confirms that filters with low sensitivity of the attenuation also produce less roundoff noise. Keywords
