Abstract
Munchausen syndrome by proxy may result in a child suffering significant morbidity and mortality either from a parent or carer or as a result of unnecessary hospital admissions, investigations and treatment. It should therefore be considered in the differential diagnosis of any child with signs or symptoms that remain unexplained after standard investigations or are unresponsive to treatment. Keywords
