Abstract
In brief Inflammation of the iliotibial brief band at the lateral femoral epicondyle-called iliotibial band syndrome-can be treated effectively with a two-phase conservative regimen. Phase 1, for treating the initial symptoms, involves anti-inflammatory drugs, icing, stretching, and using a knee immobilizer and crutches. In phase 2, which focuses on return to activity, the patient continues the stretches and runs to the point of feeling iliotibial band tightness, but not pain. Keywords
