Abstract
In this paper the experimental results of diffusion studies and modal characterization of Ag+-Na+exchanged glass waveguides are presented. Empirical relations between the process and the device parameters are derived and subsequently used to formulate a systematic procedure for fabricating single- and multimode waveguides. Keywords
