Perfluorochemicals and Photodynamic Therapy in Mice

Abstract
Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is currently being evaluated for the treatment of tumours in man. It depends on the use of tumour-localising porphyrins that are activated by visible light to produce tumour destruction (Fingar et al., 1988). PDT is oxygen dependent and recent attention has focussed on strategies for improving tumour oxygenation and thereby increasing the effectiveness of PDT.
