Abstract
Using data from 43 of the largest (student population) urban school districts in the nation, the article examines the progress women have made in securing line administrative positions in urban school districts in 20 years since the passage of Title IX. The study showed that women had made statistically significant progress in moving into such positions and had increased their numbers and percentages in all positions in the years 1972-1982 and 1982-1992. Indeed, women were found to be closing in on 50% of such positions. Keywords
