Abstract
The equilibrium statistical mechanics of an electron-ion plasma is developed in terms of the Wigner distribution function. This provides a convenient means of including the necessarily quantum nature of the electron-ion interaction at small distances. As an application of the theory, corrections to the Debye-Hückel limiting law for the thermodynamic properties of a two-component plasma are discussed. Keywords
