Abstract
Summary: The phenomenon of partial hemolysis of the H antigen‐antibody system was investigated. No physical or mechanical reason was found for this phenomenon. No evidence was found for the existence of a non‐hemolytic or blocking antibody. A theory is advanced that suboptimal amounts of antigen on the red cell surface is responsible for the partial hemolysis. Résumé: On pratique des investigations sur le phénomène de l'hémolyse partielle du système anticorps‐antigène H. On n'a trouvé ancune cause physique ou mécanique qui puisse expliquer ce phénomène. On n'a pas pu prouver l'existence d'un anticorps non hémolytique ou bloquant. On avance l'hypothèse selon laquelle une quantité suboptimale d'antigène à la surface de l'érythrocyte serait respousable de cette hémolyse partielle. Zusammenfassung: Das Phänomen der unvollständigen Hämolyse beim H‐Antigen‐Antikörper‐system wurde untersucht. Für dieses Phänomen wurde keine physikalische oder mechanische Erklärung gefunden. Ebensowenig wurden Anhaltspunkte für das Vorkommen nicht hämolysierender oder blockierender Antikörper gefunden. Möglicherweise beruht das Phänomen auf einer suboptimalen Antigenmenge an der Erythrozytenoberfläche.
