Abstract
Two patients with Turner''s syndrome associated with an isochromosome of the long arms of an X chromosome were studied. Chromosomal analysis on blood and other tissues showed this abnormality in a complement of 46 chromosomes in both patients. Sex chromatin (drumstick) analysis indicated that this body was selectively formed of the isochromosome. Various theories concerning the etiology of Turner''s syndrome are discussed. Both patients also had histologically proven thyroiditis with evidence of a circulating antibody. The association of this autoimmune disorder with the Isochromosome X in these 2 as well as other reported patients suggests a possible, significant relationship between these disorders. Keywords
