Abstract
Elastic scattering of the heavy particle obeying Bose statistics is examined by the relativistically invariant equations recently developed by Proca and by Dirac. Perturbation calculus of the "variation of constants" type is applied. For the evaluation of certain sums occurring in the scattering cross sections, destruction operators are constructed similar to those first developed by Weisskopf for the Dirac equation. While according to Mott's calculation of the scattering of electrons a polarization effect does not occur until the second approximation, such an effect appears in our case even in the first approximation. The second approximation will be treated in a later paper. Keywords
