Abstract
A first case of disseminated nocardiosis caused by Nocardia brasiliensis in a 32-year-old man with a primary diagnosis of multiple myeloma is presented. This is the first time that such a case has been reported in the United States. The cultural and physiological activities of this organism in different media have been described in order to differentiate between Nocardia asteroides and N brasiliensis.
