Studies on Cardiac Glycogen in Normal and Thyroidectomized Rats.

Abstract
The concentration of cardiac glycogen in thyroidectomized rats is consistently higher than in fasted or fed normal rats. Fasting or feeding oleic acid to thyroidectomized rats had no effect on cardiac glycogen, but both of these procedures increased the glycogen in the hearts of normal rats. Isoproterenol produces a dose-dependent in glycogen content in hearts from normal rats, but has little effect on the glycogen of hearts from thyroidectomized rats.
