Abstract
We have measured the thermal expansion, the spontaneous magnetostriction λS, and the forced volume magnetostriction ∂ω/∂H in amorphous Fe40−x/2Ni40−x/2CrxMo2B8Si10 (0<x<5) alloys using an improved capacitance technique: the ribbons are wound into cylinders and slipped into copper rings. The experimental method presented here is interesting because it covers a large temperature range: 4.2 –1000 K. We have observed the Curie temperature TC indicated by a marked peak in the thermal variations of ∂ω/∂H and the recrystallization temperature Tx by an isothermal contraction of the sample. The thermal variations of the spontaneous magnetostriction have been analyzed in the framework of the one-ion model which accounts also for the dependence of λS on the Cr content. This publication has 13 references indexed in Scilit:
