Abstract
Shattuck Lectures have always been timely. One can trace the history of modern medicine reasonably well by reviewing the titles of the lectures.The lectures have been primarily clinical and scientific in nature, following the precedent of Dr. George Brune Shattuck's first presentation in 1890 on the subject of influenza. The greatest accomplishments of medicine after Koch and Lister have been revealed and reviewed here by the men who were, or are, the miracle workers of modern medicine.
