Sound radiation from a circular steel plate driven on the edge

Abstract
Two scanning techniques are now being used to determine the vibrational patterns and farfield sound radiation of complex vibratory systems. One technique is a nearfield scanning apparatus which scans the vibrator and gives a three-dimensional display on graph paper of the modal patterns. The other scanning technique uses the principles of holography to locate farfield sound sources on the vibrator. Using these two scanning systems, sound radiation from a vibrating circular plate driven on the edge was studied.
