Abstract
Fascicular biopsies of the sural nerve have been performed for 42 patients with peripheral neuropathies. The surgical and histological techniques are described, and the pathological findings are reviewed. It is concluded that sural nerve biopsy may provide valuable information in the investigation of patients with peripheral neuropathies if careful and detailed histological examinations are performed on the excised nerves. Keywords
