Abstract
Rabbit arteries 1 mm in diameter were frozen ultrarapidly while perfused with blood. After freeze-substitution, embedding, and sectioning, the radial distribution of leukocytes was studied microscopically. The concentration of leukocytes increased toward the periphery. In vitro, at a blood flow far below the physiologic range, the concentration was maximal at the arterial wall and, with increasing blood flow, the nonuniformity of distribution decreased. In the arteries with the most uneven distribution of leukocytes, the maximum concentration exceeded the minimum by 100%.This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
