Abstract
This article provides an introduction to the Internet relevant to the field of social work. It describes uses for online communication, including e-mail, mailing lists, and the World Wide Web. Electronic technology increases access to information and offers an innovative forum where academicians, practitioners, researchers, and students can contribute to empirical and practice knowledge. Resources such as electronic journals, Web pages, and discussion groups are cited, with examples of how this new technology may supplement traditional ways of communication in the field of social work. Keywords
