Rapid Electronic Red Blood Cell Sizing as an Aid in Clinical Diagnosis

Abstract
The authors describe a method of sizing red cells electronically, thereby eliminating the determination of the mean corpuscular volume (MCV) by indirect and more inaccurate methods. This technic provides diagnostic accuracy in the anemias, and permits the differentiation of young from old cells and, thus, an appraisal of the red cell production from a specimen of peripheral blood.
