Electrochromic Properties of Molybdenum Trioxide Thin Films Prepared by Chemical Vapor Deposition

Abstract
Electrochromic molybdenum trioxide thin films were prepared by chemical vapor deposition. The source material was molybdenum carbonyl. Amorphous molybdenum trioxide thin films were produced at a substrate temperature 300°C. Reduction and oxidation of the films in a propylene carbonate solution caused desirable changes in optical absorption. Coulometry indicated that the coloration efficiency was 25.8 cm2 · C−1.
