Compound-glass optical nanowires

Abstract
A simple method to fabricate nanowires with radii as small as 90 nm from compound-glass fibres is described. Low transmission losses at 1.55 µm have been achieved in nanowires fabricated from lead-silicate and bismuth silicate optical fibres.Keywords
