Abstract
A series of 3 laboratory experiments was conducted to determine the relative plant-damaging potentials of the flower thrips, Franklinella tritici (Fitch) and the tobacco thrips, F. fusca (Hinds). Ten potted and caged seedling cotton plants infested with 10 adult thrips of the sp. being studied along with 10 control plants were used in each test. Comparison among means showed a significant reduction in stem height and green weight between the plants infested with F. fusca and the check plants. No consistent reductions were found among the plants infested with F. tritici although some plant damage was observed.
