Abstract
The synthesis of nonbenzenoid aromatic molecules containing small, medium, and large membered rings using the Wittig reaction ("bis-Wittig reaction") between dicarbonyl compounds and bisylids is reviewed. The cyclic systems formed by this reaction range from five membered to thirty-six membered compounds. 1. General Aspects of the Bis-Wittig Reaction 2. Five Membered Rings 3. Six Membered Rings 4.
