Abstract
The literature is reviewed, and the dietary factor in modern o-tolidine Ames'' tests is assessed. Stools of 43% of normal people were positive by the Occultest when diet was un-restricted; the comparable value for the Hematest was 21%. Dark tissue, whether meat, fish, fowl or vegetable, tends to produce positive tests in vitro and in vivo. A diet is prescribed for patients. Feces should not be tested until the 4th day of dietary preparation. This publication has 33 references indexed in Scilit:
