Abstract
The basic principles of operation of the point-diffraction interferometer are briefly discussed. Properties of this interferometer such as formation of the reference wavefront at the image (allowing its use in a single-pass mode) and relative insensitivity to vibration make it especially convenient for testing large complex optical systems in situ. Examples of such kinds of tests are described. Keywords
