Abstract
A series of oedometer tests are used to provide data for a quantitative prediction of soil collapse. A full scale field test is conducted to provide a benchmark for comparison with laboratory test results and predictions. It is then found that the amount of field collapse can be accurately predicted using the procedure prescribed herein, provided that the extent of wetting is known. Keywords
