Abstract
Glass, celluloid, cellulose acetate, hard and soft rubber and seven synthetic resins have been tested to determine their suitability for photoelastic investigations. The stress-strain relations, photoelastic coefficients and annealing temperatures have been measured. It is concluded that the synthetic resins Phenolite, Bakelite, and L'Orca are among the most satisfactory materials for photoelastic purposes.
