Abstract
Embryos of Siboglinum fiordicum Webb have been reared from eggs to an early gastrula with about 85 cells. No in vitro supply of sperm cells was necessary to induce cleavage in eggs removed from the gonads. The cleavage pattern seemed to be modified spiral, changing to a bilateral pattern after the fifth cleavage. Development from the time the eggs are removed from the oviducts to the beginning of gastrulation is estimated to take at most 11 days at 6 °C.Keywords
